Noong bata ako, tuwing hapon ay hinihintay ko ang Mamang Sorbetero na dumaan sa tapat ng bahay namin. Marinig ko pa lang ang tunog ng bell, tumatakbo na ako sa kalye. Gustong gusto kong makatikim ng ice cream. Pero malalaman ko na lang na wala pala akong pera. Wala akong magawa kung hindi umiyak habang pinapanood na papalayo ang ice cream.

Lumipas ang mga panahon, tumigil na ako sa pag-iyak. Hindi ko na rin nakitang muli ang Mamang Sorbetero. Napaisip na lang ako. Ano ba talaga ang dahilan kung bakit tumigil na ako sa pag-iyak? Dahil ba tanggap ko nang hindi na darating ang ice cream? O dahil kahit dumating pa ito, alam kong hindi rin naman ito mapapa sa akin?

I was fortunate to have watched the special premiere of Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs last July 2 at the Trinoma. The premiere night also served as the mall's launch of its Digital 3D Cinema which promises to 'create a whole new world of viewing pleasure by bringing vivid, brilliant visuals coupled with the crisp, clear surround sound that transport everyone inside the theatre to a vibrantly rich, sensory realm.' Viewers were given specially made glasses worn while watching the film. I was completely blown away as I saw the moving pictures seem like move out of the flat movie screen. You can see the falling leaves and snow at your hands reach. On a technical aspect, the experience was beyond the normal movie watching that I got used to.

But more than pictures and sound, it was the story that drew me closer to watching the film very attentively. Ice Age 3 features prehistoric creatures trying to survive the world going through dramatic climate changes. But with the narrative and conflict these characters go through, one can help but to empathize with them.

Manny tries his best to be a good provider and protector to his wife Ellie and their unborn baby. Diego comes to terms with losing his mojo to old age and celibacy. He meets Buck who shows him that growing old alone doesn't need to be lonely. Sid ponders upon having children, hoping it would fill the void in his life. Scrat, having spend the past two films chasing the elusive acorn, now meets the beautiful Scratte. He wonders if she's worth giving up the acorn to, or may be not. All together they show as a family, despite their differences, chooses to stick with one another.

I recommend you watch Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs at the Trinoma 3D Cinema to have the same extraordinary movie experience I had.

Fork in the road. Before making a life-changing decision, I first sought the advice of my high school friend Dax through YM. I would say he is the wisest person I've met, and I know only he can enlighten me during the times when my mind and heart are clouded by doubt and anger. Here's the YM conversation I had with him. Dax Chee: kung wala sa mga common friends nyo ang pumagitna, wala rin silang kwenta. kung kumampi lahat sa kanya, at iniwasan ka rin, walang kwenta yung mga yun

NapZter: imagine dax. sa isang magkarelasyon, hindi mo na mahal yung tao pero ayaw mong makipag break kasi u still want to try it out and u believe in the goodness of the person. then one day sya makikipag break sayo dahil di ka na niya mahal at may mahal na siya iba. ganun yung feeling, naunahan ka niya. there was a time na siya at yung common friend, plus iba pa sa barkada, e hindi okay. magkaaway, magulo sila. pero I was the one who stood by her side. ngayong okay na siya sa lahat sa barkada, she will lure all of them to her side against me? unfair!
Dax Chee: hindi ako sa girl magagalit. more of sa barkada kung magpapasway sila. do you believe in the power of a good name? kahit ano sabihin nya, kung kilala ka ng mga kaibigan mo, sya ang magmumukhang masama. whatever she says will not tell who you are, but more on what she is. it will speak more of who she is rather than who you are
NapZter: ang dali para sa kanya itapon lahat ng magagandang nagawa ko. bakit? dahil masaya na siya? dahil maayos na buhay niya? dahil may asawa na siya? the time na wala lahat yun, sino ba ang nasa tabi niya?
dax, worth it pa ba na ilabas ko itong mga sama ng loob ko, kahit sa barkada lang? I want justice, gusto ko ipagtanggol sarili ko
Dax Chee: if that makes you feel better then do. but i think you're overreacting, no offense.
NapZter: panong overreacting? may maliit na bagay ba na pinalalaki ko lang?
Dax Chee: nagngingitngit ka ba dahil sa ginawa nya sayo, dahil sa iisipin sayo ng barkada, o dahil feeling mo may gusto sya sayo at hindi mo maccept na wala pala?
NapZter: scrap the 'gusto' part
Dax Chee: really?
NapZter: dahil sa ginagawa niya. she's claiming na ginagawa niya to dahil may kasalanan ako sa kanya
NapZter: pero sana isipin niya na hindi din siya ganun kalinis pagdating sa akin
Dax Chee: hindi kaya umiiwas sya sayo dahil naghahanap lang sya ng paraan para lumayo ka sa kanya?
Dax Chee: kase nararamdaman nya na may gusto ka?
NapZter: minsan nasasaktan din niya ako at nate take for granted
NapZter: pero inintindi ko siya. ngayon ako ang hindi niya iintindihin
NapZter: i dont think so
NapZter: galit talaga siya. ganun ang ugali niya. impulsive, she writes people off her life with a single mistake. kasi ang philosophy niya 'isang tao ka lang. kahit mawala ka, madami pa rin akong frends. mabubuhay ako na wala ka. hindi naman tayo titira sa isang bahay e.'
Dax Chee: so are you fighting for your right to her friendship? is that the justice that will give you peace of mind?
NapZter: gusto ko ma realize na mali na itong ginagawa niya, yung mga pagkukulang niya, na hindi siya ganun kalinis. kung ayaw na niya, e di wag. pero wag niyang sasabihin na masama akong tao
Dax Chee: you're almost demanding for friendship. kung di k nmn tlaga msama, do you think your real friends would care?

NapZter: naiisip ko rin na baka naman hindi rin siya worth to keep after all
Dax Chee: yan ang sinasabi ko simula nung una. i mean, siguro mabait sya and she can't be so bad. pero you can choose not to keep the friendship. if this is inhibiting your growth as a person. pero pag ok na sya uli, makipagbati ka. but never beg for someone's friendship or expect anything for that matter. if you can't count on her just as much as she can count on you, then i don't think it's your loss
NapZter: nag desisyon na siya na magkalimutan na. tingin ko nasa kanya na ang bola. para kasing matapos ng mga inaccuse niya sa akin na masasakit, wala na akong ganang ayusin pa. kahit na isipin ko na precious yung pinagsamahan namin, kung para sa kanya wala nang saysay yun, wala na akong magagawa. kahit sumbatan ko pa siya, no effect na kasi nga wala nang halaga ang mga yun sa kanya. ang nasa isip lang niya yung isa or dalawang bad na nagawa ko
Dax Chee: ang totoong magkakaibigan, hindi nagsusumbatan. kung manunumbat ka thinking that she'll come to her senses, that's wrong.
NapZter: mali nga din na sumbatan ko siya. pero mali din ba na sabihin niyang 'ang tagal niyang hindi nagparamdam tapos ngayon ito pa ang sasabihin niya..."
Dax Chee: leave the panunumbat to her own conscience. do not dwell on individual dialogs na for all we know ay sinasabi lang out of anger. she has every right to be wrong with her opinion just as much as you have. but that is NOT the point. the fact remains na may away, at kahit sino pa ang tama o mali, hindi maireconcile. so what are you gonna do about it, cry your lungs out? deal with it like adults. play it cool. there are so many other more complicated matters far more deserving than what you are having right now. things that are beyond your control. for everything else, play it cool.
NapZter: ako sinabi ko sa mga common friends namin sinabi ko na I'm still open for a communication with her. It may not salvage the friendship, but at least I can air my side of the story. kung ang isang party e nag decide nang mag cut ng ties, what's there to do? wala, di ba. kaya nga wala na sa akin ang bola (at ang guilt).
Dax Chee: no one else needs to know what's going on. the friendship is between the two of you
NapZter: kaya naman ako nagsabi sa common friends is wala akong mapagsabihan ng mga sama ng loob ko. pero that was the first time I spoke about the issue, at sa tingin ko yun na dapat ang last. time to move on na. there's no sense in talking about it na with other people kasi wala naman nang mare resolve.
Dax Chee: hay salamat you're finally getting it

Dax Chee: don't expect too much. so kung hindi sya apektado, why should you be any different. you did something wrong, she was angry, you were sorry, you weren't forgiven. then if she won't forgive you, then at least forgive yourself. inadmit mo namang nagkamali ka, gusto mong bumawi, ayaw nya. nakakapagod mang amo ng mga bata no. sometimes the easiest way is just to let her have it her way.

Dax Chee: eh gago ka rin kase. kung di ka ba naman gunggong at kalahati. kasalanan mo rin yan for spoiling her. oh eh pinagbibigyan mo kase baka ilalaglag laglag ang friendship mo. o ayan kamusta ka ngayon. batukan kita e.
NapZter: hindi lang naman siguro siya ang kaibigan sa mundo.
Dax Chee: well you already know the answer to that
NapZter: actually, last year some time bday ko nangyari yung away. from then on di ko sya tinext, naging okay naman ang buhay ko. di ko naman siya hinanap. last week noong nalaman ko na masama pa rin ang loob niya at not inviting me to her wedding, not texting me was her way of punishing me or dahil binura na niya ako sa buhay niya, dun lang ako nag react. kaya heto ngayon. Pero kung nakayanan ko for one year na wala siya, siguro hindi na magiging mahirap sa akin yung mga susunod na araw.
Dax Chee: i don't know what's with weddings. why are people making such a big deal out of it. the root cause of the entire trojan war ay dahil merong goddess na hindi ininvite sa kasal.

Billy is a well-known recording artist in Europe having released chart-topping singles in France, Germany, and Belgium, among others.
