Noong bata ako, tuwing hapon ay hinihintay ko ang Mamang Sorbetero na dumaan sa tapat ng bahay namin. Marinig ko pa lang ang tunog ng bell, tumatakbo na ako sa kalye. Gustong gusto kong makatikim ng ice cream. Pero malalaman ko na lang na wala pala akong pera. Wala akong magawa kung hindi umiyak habang pinapanood na papalayo ang ice cream.

Lumipas ang mga panahon, tumigil na ako sa pag-iyak. Hindi ko na rin nakitang muli ang Mamang Sorbetero. Napaisip na lang ako. Ano ba talaga ang dahilan kung bakit tumigil na ako sa pag-iyak? Dahil ba tanggap ko nang hindi na darating ang ice cream? O dahil kahit dumating pa ito, alam kong hindi rin naman ito mapapa sa akin?

Department of Health announces cuts of selected medicines

The Department of Health (DOH) said Monday that drug companies have voluntarily agreed to reduce the prices of 14 of 21 essential drugs by up to 60 percent under the MDRP scheme.

Aragon, meanwhile, clarified that they failed to come up with higher price cut proposal on 7 other essential medicines because these are being manufactured by non-PHAP members. However, he assured that all drug manufacturers have no choice but to abide by the price cuts to be implemented by the government by August 15.

Lovers in Paris is an adaptation of the popular Koreanovela of the same name. ABS-CBN has produced several top-rating teleserye adaptations like Kim Chiu’s My Girl, Bea Alonzo’s I Love Betty La Fea, and Angel Locsin’s Only You. For her part, KC admitted that she feels pressured to continue that winning streak. “We’re hoping for the best. Syempre ‘yung Only You ang lakas sa ratings. ‘Yung Betty La Fea successful din. More life in Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs

I was fortunate to have watched the special premiere of Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs last July 2 at the Trinoma. The premiere night also served as the mall's launch of its Digital 3D Cinema which promises to 'create a whole new world of viewing pleasure by bringing vivid, brilliant visuals coupled with the crisp, clear surround sound that transport everyone inside the theatre to a vibrantly rich, sensory realm.' Viewers were given specially made glasses worn while watching the film. I was completely blown away as I saw the moving pictures seem like move out of the flat movie screen. You can see the falling leaves and snow at your hands reach. On a technical aspect, the experience was beyond the normal movie watching that I got used to.

But more than pictures and sound, it was the story that drew me closer to watching the film very attentively. Ice Age 3 features prehistoric creatures trying to survive the world going through dramatic climate changes. But with the narrative and conflict these characters go through, one can help but to empathize with them.

Manny tries his best to be a good provider and protector to his wife Ellie and their unborn baby. Diego comes to terms with losing his mojo to old age and celibacy. He meets Buck who shows him that growing old alone doesn't need to be lonely. Sid ponders upon having children, hoping it would fill the void in his life. Scrat, having spend the past two films chasing the elusive acorn, now meets the beautiful Scratte. He wonders if she's worth giving up the acorn to, or may be not. All together they show as a family, despite their differences, chooses to stick with one another.

I recommend you watch Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs at the Trinoma 3D Cinema to have the same extraordinary movie experience I had.

How do you say goodbye to a friend?

Fork in the road. Before making a life-changing decision, I first sought the advice of my high school friend Dax through YM. I would say he is the wisest person I've met, and I know only he can enlighten me during the times when my mind and heart are clouded by doubt and anger. Here's the YM conversation I had with him. This is my way of letting everything out of my chest before I move on.

Napzter- anong gagawin mo if one of your closest friends decided to write you off his life
Dax- malulungkot sandali tapos iisipin kung ano yung kasalanan na nagawa ko then life goes on. hindi ko naman syota e
Nap- actually ganun din iniisip ko. feeling ko maliit lang ang kasalanan ko. nag sorry na ako. kung para sa kanyan big deal pa rin, ala na ko magagawa. kung makakaya niya na wala ako. siguro naman makakayanan ko din na wala siya. ganun lang talaga ang buhay
Dax- alamin mo kung ano ang magagawa mo para patawarin ka. kung wala,ibig sabihin, no use na mageffort ka. aantayin mo na lang na mapatawad ka finally then move on. although kase, yung maliit na bagay sayo pwedeng malaki nga sa kanya. depende kase sa moralidad ng tao yan e
Nap- kaya hindi rin ako lumalapit sa kanya dahil nasaktan naman niya ako in the processuna ko siyang nasaktan, pero dahil sa galit niya, may mga nasabing siyang masakit at unfair. yun naman ang galit ko sa kanya. pero wala akong magagawa di ba kasi ako ang unang nakasakit
Dax- oo. nagretaliate lang sya. kung ikaw yung may kasalanan, wala kang choice
yung mga masakit and unfair na yan, syempre sinasabi lang nya yun out of anger. so yung mga ganun, pinalalampas lang yun. pag malamig na ang ulo nya at yan pa rin ang sinasabi nya, ayun, pwede ka na masaktan nun
Nap- a year na rin since d incident. last january, she didn't inform or invite me sa wedding niya. lahat ng barkada invited, ako lang hindi intentionally. ibig sigurong sabihin ganun katindi ang galit niya para hindi niya ako gawing parte ng mahalagang happening sa lyf nya
Dax- di naman siguro. it's just that hindi na sya magpapagod kase, possibly hindi ka naman kawalan sa kanya after ng nangyari so why go the extra mile? accept mo na may ganun talagang mga tao
Nap- siguro nga. hindi na niya ako kailangan kasi masaya na siya. e during the time na she's heartbroken and lost. ako lang nag stay by her side e ngayong masaya na siya, di na niya ako kailangan
Dax- hindi mo pwedeng isumbat yun dahil kahit sinong mabait na kaibigan, di talaga sya iiwan. besides, sa kwento mo, hindi ka naman nilayuan dahil masaya na sya, pero may atraso ka. malas lang na nagtatanim sya ng galit
Nap- pakiramdam ko, hindi na siya nag reach out, hindi na niya ako hinanap kasi nga masaya na siya at di na niya ako kailangan. nakadagdag sa fact na hindi niya ako mapatawad kasi dispensible na ako sa kanya
Dax Chee: posible din
NapZter: hindi ko lang makayanan ito na pinaparusahan niya ako na parang criminal. as a friend who was der during her tough times, i was expecting a special treatment from her. na magiging matimbang pa rin yung naitulong ko sa kanya over sa isang kasalanan. kasi para sa kanya yun ang gagawin ko, if things have been the other way around
Dax-malungkot na hindi ka binigyan. pero hindi rin kase tama na nagexpect ka. ganun talaga nap when you do something right, no one remembers, but when you do something wrong, no one ever forgets
Nap- naisip ko rin yan, na mali na nag expect ako. i was thinking of texting her today. bale ganito ang sasabihin ko. TEXT KO- Nagkita kami.Ikinasal ka na pala. U didnt inform or invite me. Ganun na pala katindi ang galit mo sa akin. Ano ang magagawa ko para mapatawad ako? Lahat ready akong gawin at tanggapin, ganun kita kamahal (as a friend)
NapZter: what do you think?
Dax- kung ako, hindi ako magsesend ng ganyan. out of place. just say congrats and best wishes sa wedding. kung magtetext ka para lang awayin sya, don't expect a good reply or even any replies for that matter. just give her peace. congratulate mo sya then pag nagreply ng thank you, wag ka na magreply. or reply ka lang ng smiley
Nap- hindi naman ako nangaaway. pero kung ganun ang tingin mo sa text. good point. wat do u suggest?
Nap- TEXT- Congratulations sa wedding. I'm happy u have found a man who will love u the way u deserve to be. God Bless u
Dax- personally, it will not speak well of me kung ipinagpipilitan ko ang sarili ko sa taong ayaw sakin. NAP, sarcastic, at wag kang kumontra, i can imagine your face while typing that
NapZter: or gusto ko sana idagdag. Kahit ano pa ang mangyari, kaibigan mo pa rin ako
Dax - sabihin mo lang "Hi, nabalitaan ko. Congrats! "ganun lang na parang walang nangyari. wag mo na ipaalala sa kanya kung bakit hindi ka nya ininvite

Dax- bitter ka ba sa kanya?
Nap-bitter ako na kaya pala niya akong i write off sa buhay niya easily

Dax-wag mo na sabihin yung you got married na pala. kase pinapamukha mo sa kanya subliminally na bakit hindi ka nya sinabihan. wow, siguro yung last gf ko ganyan ang feeling sakin hehe


NapZter: the reason i thought of doing this para sa sarili ko. time na rin siguro para mag move on ako kung ayaw na talaga niya. ala na ako magagawa. may pride din naman ako no?
Dax- nap ni hindi mo nga syota. although kung minsan, oo nga mas madali magdump ng syota kesa friend. you'll get on with your life sooner than you think
Nap- masakit lang na matapos ng mga sinabi namin noon na 'friends for lyf" 'hindi kita makakalimutan"dito lang pala kami magtatapos
Dax- yep. sad. sad thought
Nap- ganun lang ang buhay. may natatapos, pero meron namang nagsisimula
Dax- but you know, it's no more than a thought. so just don't think about it

Dax- that's the best gift probably na maibibgay ko sayo. friendship. at least we're no longer making people out of trash

Dax Chee: eh bkit mo nasabi na kung umasta cya eh akala mong napakalinis nya
NapZter: kasi nagkausap kami ng common friend namin noong Saturday. umatend siya ng kasal at after ng incident ng away namin last year. yung frend na yun ang tinakbuhan niya. ang kwento sa akin nung frend, galit daw siya ang sabi 'ang tagal kong hindi nagparamdam tapos ganun lang ang sasabihin ko sa kanya.' e hello, siya kaya hindi rin nagpaparamdam. ugali niyang hindi mag text. lalo na nung nagka boyfriend siya. for 3 years hindi man lang siya gumawa ng effort na magkita kami. lagi niyang sinasabi na 'iba na ngayon' kasi may boyfriend na siya
Dax- ikaw ba gumawa ka ng effort para magkita kayo?
NapZter: oo naman. minsan tinatanong ko siya kung available siya. lagi niyang sabi di pwede kasi night shift sya sa col center. or papayag siya pero 1 hr lang kami magkikita kasi hindi siya nagpaalam sa BF niya. parang hindi ata papayag yung BF na makipagkita sa akin. there was a time text ako ng text sa kanya, checking up on her. pero dedma
Dax- a ok. o edi may effort namn pala. o e wala tayong magagawa dun
Nap- lagi ko siyang binabati sa bday nya at tuwing Christmas. pero ako, wala ako maalaala na binati niya ako sa bday ko o pag pasko. kung meron mang neglected dito, ako yun
Dax Chee: ayun naman pala e. then what are you upset about. edi mas madali pala syang bitiwan kung ganun
NapZter: yun nga ang iniisip ko e. kung meron mang dapat manlaglag, ako yun. I feel that I have all the reason to do that.
Dax Chee: what's stopping you then
NapZter: pero dahil sa incident, lumabas sa buong barkada na ako ang may kasalanan and that entitles her para ilaglag ako. ang sakit na kapag naisulat ang history na ito, siya ang tama at ako ang mali. yung common friend namin, after the incident, dun siya nag explain. naglabas siya ng sama ng loob. mga text ko finorward niya. pero ako, hindi man lang ako nakapag explain
Dax Chee: kung wala sa mga common friends nyo ang pumagitna, wala rin silang kwenta. kung kumampi lahat sa kanya, at iniwasan ka rin, walang kwenta yung mga yun
NapZter: I want to be heard. Gusto kong ilabas lahat ng punto ko, yung mga panunumbat ko na sinabi ko sa yo last time. i think I have the right na ipagtanggol ang sarili ko
Dax Chee: nap, don't sweat it. you know why? you do not owe them the truth
NapZter: hindi naman talaga sila kumakampi. pero yung friend ko, lagi siyang nagsasabi sa mga friends namin ang sama ng loob niya. pero yung common friend na yun, di man lang ako tinanong sa side ko of the story. Unfair. hindi ako tulad niya na sumbungero, alam mo yun. bawat problema, takbo sa friend and bitch about it
Dax- nung kami nag aaway ng gf ko nun, nagsusumbong sya sa lahat ng friends namin. i don't even have to say anything. i didn't care, my friends know that im not like what she claims me to be
Nap- Ask ko lang dax, kapag nagkikita kami ng mga barkada tama ba na magsalita pa ako about the issue, ilabas ko ang sama ng loob ko anticipating na makakarating sa kanya yun
Dax Chee: if someone brings it up, ok lang. pero wag ka magttantrums. kakampi ang hanap mo, hindi kaaway. kung gusto mo makipagpeace, wag mo padaanin sa mga friends mo. pag ayaw nya makipagkita, edi fine. hindi ka naman talo kahit siraan ka pa nya
NapZter: imagine dax. sa isang magkarelasyon, hindi mo na mahal yung tao pero ayaw mong makipag break kasi u still want to try it out and u believe in the goodness of the person. then one day sya makikipag break sayo dahil di ka na niya mahal at may mahal na siya iba. ganun yung feeling, naunahan ka niya. there was a time na siya at yung common friend, plus iba pa sa barkada, e hindi okay. magkaaway, magulo sila. pero I was the one who stood by her side. ngayong okay na siya sa lahat sa barkada, she will lure all of them to her side against me? unfair!
Dax Chee: hindi ako sa girl magagalit. more of sa barkada kung magpapasway sila. do you believe in the power of a good name? kahit ano sabihin nya, kung kilala ka ng mga kaibigan mo, sya ang magmumukhang masama. whatever she says will not tell who you are, but more on what she is. it will speak more of who she is rather than who you are
NapZter: ang dali para sa kanya itapon lahat ng magagandang nagawa ko. bakit? dahil masaya na siya? dahil maayos na buhay niya? dahil may asawa na siya? the time na wala lahat yun, sino ba ang nasa tabi niya?
dax, worth it pa ba na ilabas ko itong mga sama ng loob ko, kahit sa barkada lang? I want justice, gusto ko ipagtanggol sarili ko
Dax Chee: if that makes you feel better then do. but i think you're overreacting, no offense.
NapZter: panong overreacting? may maliit na bagay ba na pinalalaki ko lang?
Dax Chee: nagngingitngit ka ba dahil sa ginawa nya sayo, dahil sa iisipin sayo ng barkada, o dahil feeling mo may gusto sya sayo at hindi mo maccept na wala pala?
NapZter: scrap the 'gusto' part
Dax Chee: really?
NapZter: dahil sa ginagawa niya. she's claiming na ginagawa niya to dahil may kasalanan ako sa kanya
NapZter: pero sana isipin niya na hindi din siya ganun kalinis pagdating sa akin
Dax Chee: hindi kaya umiiwas sya sayo dahil naghahanap lang sya ng paraan para lumayo ka sa kanya?
Dax Chee: kase nararamdaman nya na may gusto ka?
NapZter: minsan nasasaktan din niya ako at nate take for granted
NapZter: pero inintindi ko siya. ngayon ako ang hindi niya iintindihin
NapZter: i dont think so
NapZter: galit talaga siya. ganun ang ugali niya. impulsive, she writes people off her life with a single mistake. kasi ang philosophy niya 'isang tao ka lang. kahit mawala ka, madami pa rin akong frends. mabubuhay ako na wala ka. hindi naman tayo titira sa isang bahay e.'
Dax Chee: so are you fighting for your right to her friendship? is that the justice that will give you peace of mind?
NapZter: gusto ko ma realize na mali na itong ginagawa niya, yung mga pagkukulang niya, na hindi siya ganun kalinis. kung ayaw na niya, e di wag. pero wag niyang sasabihin na masama akong tao
Dax Chee: you're almost demanding for friendship. kung di k nmn tlaga msama, do you think your real friends would care?

NapZter: naiisip ko rin na baka naman hindi rin siya worth to keep after all
Dax Chee: yan ang sinasabi ko simula nung una. i mean, siguro mabait sya and she can't be so bad. pero you can choose not to keep the friendship. if this is inhibiting your growth as a person. pero pag ok na sya uli, makipagbati ka. but never beg for someone's friendship or expect anything for that matter. if you can't count on her just as much as she can count on you, then i don't think it's your loss
NapZter: nag desisyon na siya na magkalimutan na. tingin ko nasa kanya na ang bola. para kasing matapos ng mga inaccuse niya sa akin na masasakit, wala na akong ganang ayusin pa. kahit na isipin ko na precious yung pinagsamahan namin, kung para sa kanya wala nang saysay yun, wala na akong magagawa. kahit sumbatan ko pa siya, no effect na kasi nga wala nang halaga ang mga yun sa kanya. ang nasa isip lang niya yung isa or dalawang bad na nagawa ko
Dax Chee: ang totoong magkakaibigan, hindi nagsusumbatan. kung manunumbat ka thinking that she'll come to her senses, that's wrong.
NapZter: mali nga din na sumbatan ko siya. pero mali din ba na sabihin niyang 'ang tagal niyang hindi nagparamdam tapos ngayon ito pa ang sasabihin niya..."
Dax Chee: leave the panunumbat to her own conscience. do not dwell on individual dialogs na for all we know ay sinasabi lang out of anger. she has every right to be wrong with her opinion just as much as you have. but that is NOT the point. the fact remains na may away, at kahit sino pa ang tama o mali, hindi maireconcile. so what are you gonna do about it, cry your lungs out? deal with it like adults. play it cool. there are so many other more complicated matters far more deserving than what you are having right now. things that are beyond your control. for everything else, play it cool.
NapZter: ako sinabi ko sa mga common friends namin sinabi ko na I'm still open for a communication with her. It may not salvage the friendship, but at least I can air my side of the story. kung ang isang party e nag decide nang mag cut ng ties, what's there to do? wala, di ba. kaya nga wala na sa akin ang bola (at ang guilt).
Dax Chee: no one else needs to know what's going on. the friendship is between the two of you
NapZter: kaya naman ako nagsabi sa common friends is wala akong mapagsabihan ng mga sama ng loob ko. pero that was the first time I spoke about the issue, at sa tingin ko yun na dapat ang last. time to move on na. there's no sense in talking about it na with other people kasi wala naman nang mare resolve.
Dax Chee: hay salamat you're finally getting it
NapZter: medyo naliliwanagan na nga ako.
NapZter: sabi nga ng mga officemates ko, hayaan ko na siya ang mag carry ng guilt.
Dax Chee: nap, don't even think of it that way
NapZter: sabi din nila, she may be hurting the same way I am hurt right now
Dax Chee: sa tingin mo ba talaga eh apektado sya just as much as you are now? you really think that she feels guilt?
NapZter: sa tingin ko hindi siya apektado. malakas ang feeling ko na nilaglag na niya talaga ako
Dax Chee: don't expect too much. so kung hindi sya apektado, why should you be any different. you did something wrong, she was angry, you were sorry, you weren't forgiven. then if she won't forgive you, then at least forgive yourself. inadmit mo namang nagkamali ka, gusto mong bumawi, ayaw nya. nakakapagod mang amo ng mga bata no. sometimes the easiest way is just to let her have it her way.
NapZter: "nakakapagod mang amo ng mga bata no" - that's what I have been doing during the duration of our friendship. yun ang gusto kong isumbat sa kanya.
Dax Chee: eh gago ka rin kase. kung di ka ba naman gunggong at kalahati. kasalanan mo rin yan for spoiling her. oh eh pinagbibigyan mo kase baka ilalaglag laglag ang friendship mo. o ayan kamusta ka ngayon. batukan kita e.
NapZter: hindi lang naman siguro siya ang kaibigan sa mundo.
Dax Chee: well you already know the answer to that
NapZter: actually, last year some time bday ko nangyari yung away. from then on di ko sya tinext, naging okay naman ang buhay ko. di ko naman siya hinanap. last week noong nalaman ko na masama pa rin ang loob niya at not inviting me to her wedding, not texting me was her way of punishing me or dahil binura na niya ako sa buhay niya, dun lang ako nag react. kaya heto ngayon. Pero kung nakayanan ko for one year na wala siya, siguro hindi na magiging mahirap sa akin yung mga susunod na araw.
Dax Chee: i don't know what's with weddings. why are people making such a big deal out of it. the root cause of the entire trojan war ay dahil merong goddess na hindi ininvite sa kasal.
NapZter: dahil sa advice mo, or siguro dahil nakakain na ako kaya medyo nahimasmasan na ako. thanks dax.
